While her creative journey took a definitive turn towards painting in early 2020, Mimi Svane's perspective has long been shaped by a life of exploration. Her work is inspired by a fascination from early childhood with the cosmos, symbols, and the spiritual realm, alongside a lifelong interest in archetypes, and the invisible deep-seated bonds that link us to one another.
Her work delves into the raw and layered emotional world we all inhabit, giving form to feelings that often go unspoken. Working primarily in acrylic, Mimi sees love as a constant pillar and a universal bridge. Her work is also influenced by the diverse cities that she has called home- from Copenhagen, where she was born, to the energy of New York City, LA, and the cultural melting pot of Miami. A largely self-taught artist, she further refined her techniques through studio workshops in both New York and Miami.
Now, she finds inspiration in the deep calm nature in Puerto Rico, where she's currently residing. This global path has mirrored her personal life, marrying a man from across the world, merging a multicultural family constellation. Mimi explores the intersections of faith, the force of love, and the spiritual realm.
